Friday Friendship Fun Club: A new way to connect and combat social isolation
In a world where social isolation has become an increasing concern, Southcare is thrilled to introduce the Friday Friendship Fun Club!
This social club is designed to build connections and bring joy to our community, welcoming everyone to join and celebrate the power of friendship.
Whether you’re looking for new friends, want to reconnect with old ones, or simply enjoy spending time with like-minded people out of your home, this club is for you! We recognise the importance of creating a space where everyone feels valued, supported, and, most importantly, connected.
The club is run by friends and Southcare customers Shirley and Sylvie who say the club is open to everyone.
Whether you’re 18 or 80, outgoing or a bit shy, this is a place for everyone. There’s no pressure to ‘fit in’—come as you are, bring a friend, or come solo and find new ones here. If you or someone you know would benefit from a friendly, supportive community, the Friday Friendship Fun Club is waiting.
With a blend of games, activities, and meaningful conversations, the Friday Friendship Fun Club has something for everyone. Each month, they’ll be different themes and activities over morning tea to keep things fresh and enjoyable for everyone. Attendees are empowered to share their story and contribute
Chief Executive Officer Enda Fahy says 1 in 4 people aged over 65 live alone and many don’t speak to others for days on end so this club is a great way to address the ongoing issue of social isolation, particularly among our seniors.
“Loneliness and isolation are common struggles for people of all ages, but they don’t have to be a constant part of life. At Southcare, we are committed to making a positive impact on our community by fostering spaces where people can truly connect. This monthly gathering is part of our Community Connect Program and is designed to break down social barriers, encourage friendships, and uplift the spirits of everyone involved.
The first club is on Friday 22 November 2024 between 10am – midday. Tea and coffee is provided and guests are encouraged to bring a plate to share.
The club is free and you don’t need to RSVP. Just turn up and get ready to connect and have some fun so we can make out Fridays a bit brighter for everyone!
