Residents of Manning, Karawara, Como, Salter Point, Waterford, and surrounds are getting ready for a celebration of community and connection as the Manning Laneway Festival makes its triumphant return on Saturday, 10 February 2024, and Southcare is right there at its heart.

Southcare is sponsoring the festival, notably the community laneway which will see more than 30 local community groups (including Rotary Club of Como, Soroptimist International South Perth, Manning Community Association, Manning Men’s Shed and more) plus local schools and businesses, gather to connect with attendees.

Chief Executive Officer Enda Fahy said it was set to be an afternoon that combines the best of community, music, food, and free family-friendly activities to celebrate all the magic of Manning.

“We’ve supported our community since 1982 and are thrilled to support this festival as another way to bring people together because we know how important it is to connect as we see first-hand the effects of social isolation,” Enda said.

Our team is supporting the festival in other ways too with one Southcarer running the marketing as part of the organising committee in a voluntary capacity, plus bringing the community together with an Amazing Race activity.

“We know how amazing this community is and the people that live in it so invite everyone to join us in discovering the “Amazing Race in Manning” for the chance to win a family voucher to enjoy at Krankin Café. Come find our team on the Southcare stand at the entrance to the community laneway and return your completed race form to be in the running to win,” Enda said.

Last year, 2,000 people joined the festivities and organisers this year are hoping to eclipse that with new activities including:

  • extended food and beverage options with more restaurants joining the festivities, as well as the licensed area near the main stage
  • extra sporting fun on James Millar oval including boxing, yoga, ballroom dancing, AFL, rugby and cricket
  • roaming podcast interviews
  • a permanent art installation created by the community
  • A DJ starting from 9pm for those that want to keep the energy going!

The festival is organised by the Manning Town Team with support from a number of sponsors including Southcare.
